Berger Paints Adds Colour to FIFA WORLD CUP 2018

Kolkata, 18 June 2018: After painting some of the streets of the soccer-loving city Kolkata, Berger Paints India Ltd., the second largest paint company in India has taken a leap to paint the greatest destination of World Cup Soccer this year, three Russian stadiums. Three major stadiums of Russia, Rostov Arena, Volgograd Arena and Kaliningrad have been painted with material supplied by Berger Paints Russia, a fully owned subsidiary of Berger Paints India Ltd ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Kaliningrad Stadium, also called Arena Baltika, is a football stadium on Oktyabrsky Island, will host four games.  The Rostov Arena is a recently opened new stadium in the city of Rostov-on-Don will host five games. The Volgograd Arena is a football stadium in Volgograd, Russia will host four games of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Though India ranks 97 in FIFA rankings currently but the country goes crazy during the World Cup, particularly cities like Kolkata and Kochi. The city of joy welcomes FIFA with great pomp and show. The game has an immense emotional connect with the city and its people. Often grand processions are rolled down the streets of Kolkata in support of their favourite teams. The passion of the citizens become more vibrant as they select their jersey colours and cheer for their teams.

It took almost 20-24 months and 200 kilo-litres of Berger Paints to complete these iconic project. Products of Berger Paints in the decorative segment are all free of Lead, Mercury, Chromium and other heavy metals with acceptable levels of VOC. It involved a long thought process in the selection of the appropriate colours for painting these stadiums and finally, the creamy grey colour was used. Berger Paints Russia completed this project in association with its local business partner Picante Paints & Varnishes. The weather-proof paint was used for both interiors and exteriors of all the three stadiums.
