PhonePe goes live as a payment option on the IRCTC Rail connect Android appCustomers can now use UPI to pay directly from their bank accounts in a seamless wayAugust 20, Kolkata:
PhonePe, India’s fastest growing payments platform, has entered into a partnership with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to facilitate convenient, fast and secure payments through PhonePe on the IRCTC Rail connect Android app. As a result of this partnership, PhonePe’s 100 million plus users can now pay directly from their bank accounts using UPI, credit & debit cards and also the PhonePe wallet for their travel bookings.
Commenting on the partnership, Karthik Raghupathy, Head of Strategy and Planning PhonePe said, “We are extremely delighted to partner with IRCTC which has been a trusted platform for India’s travel bookings. Through this partnership, we aim to boost digital payments across India. PhonePe offers IRCTC users the choice of using UPI along with all the other payment methods available on the app for quick and hassle free payments. This partnership gives IRCTC users a great travel booking experience and also provides the benefits of digital payments to a wider audience.”
PhonePe has emerged as the largest player on the UPI network having clocked over 100Mn plus transactions in July 2018. The company was also awarded as an outstanding merchant UPI player at the NPCI excellence awards this year. PhonePe is live on MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip, EaseMyTrip, Akbar Travels, Abhibus and several other players in the travel space. PhonePe recently launched mini-apps on its platform allowing users to book Ola rides, pay for Redbus tickets and avail Goibibo Hotel services directly from the PhonePe app.
