Narayana Superspecilaity Hospital, Howrah Introduces Eastern India’s one of its kind, 4th Generation Robotic surgery Technology

10 February, 2021, Kolkata: Robotic surgeries are considered to be one of the major advancement in the field of surgical practices. Unlike most traditional surgeries it helps to make procedure minimally invasive and lets doctors do the complex surgeries which are not possible in the conventional process. To make this Hi-tech procedure more accessible to the patients Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah has recently launched Eastern India’s first Gen4 Robotic Surgery technology set up in its premises.

The Department of Robotic Surgery will consist of a specialized team of surgeons such as Dr. Abhay Kumar, (Consultant Urology & Uro-Onco robotic surgeon), Dr. Kaustav Basu, (Consultant Gynae-Onco Robotic surgeon), Dr. Sumit Sanyal, (Consultant HPB & GI-Onco Surgery), Dr. Shubhayu Banerjee, (Consultant GI-Onco surgery), Dr. Saurav Chowdhury, (Consultant HPB & GI-Onco Surgery) and Dr. Amitava Chakravarti, (Consultant Vascular and Thoracic Surgery) furtherthey would be assisted by a team of skilled Paramedics, nurses for robotic surgery.

Robotic Surgery at NH, Howrah takes minimally invasive surgery to the next step, using the Vaunted Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System, team of highly trained and skilled surgeons perform a wide range of surgeries. Robotic Surgery Is offered in the specialtieslike Urology, GI surgery, Gynaecology, Cardiothoracic surgery, Otolaryngology (ENT).

Sharing more insights about this newly formed department of Robotic surgery Mr. R. Venkatesh, Regional Director, Narayana Health East said that, “Apart from providing hi tech benefits of the robotic surgery to the patients, our prime concern is to make such advanced treatments more accessible to the underprivileged section of the society. We have made it available to the masses and Robotic surgery, or robot-assisted surgery, allows doctors to perform critical and complex procedures with high precision, resulting in very good clinical outcomes.

Dr. Abhay Kumar, Consultant Urology and Uro-Onco Robotic Surgeon said that, “this is the first time in Eastern India that we are experiencing, the 4th Generation Robotic surgery technology. This has broadened our horizons in the field of surgery benefiting patients of without the need to travel to other cities for treatment. Patients coming to our hospital will experience this precision in minimal access surgery resulting in quicker and faster recovery.”
