BSF HANDED OVER ONE BANGLADESHI MINOR GIRL TO BGB AS GOODWILL GESTURE

In a goodwill gesture, the BSF Meghalaya handed over one Bangladeshi minor girl to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), after she was apprehended in India with one Indian national on Thursday evening.
2. Earlier on 18th March 2021, BSF troops of Border Out Post Lukaichar, 28 Bn BSF deployed at border area South West Garo Hills apprehended one BD Minor Girl (16 yrs) R/o village Bilwar Char, PS Diwanganj, Distt Jamalpur, (Bangladesh) who eloped with one Indian boy namely Taktar Miah (23 yrs) S/o Nulu Seikh R/o village Nanidichar, PS Mahendraganj, Distt South West Garo Hills (Meghalaya) near border village Lukaichar.
3. Further the Minor girl was handed over to BGB during a flag meeting in presence of police rep as a goodwill gesture and the apprehended Indian National was handed over to his family member; however a complaint lodged against him at PS Mahenderganj, South West Garo Hills.
4. Shri U K Nayal, DIG/PRO, Meghalaya Frontier said that “The habitation close to International boundary on both sides (India and Bangladesh) of the border which has ethnic and cultural affinity makes it more sensitive and poses a serious challenge to both the Border Guarding Forces. However, such issues are amicably resolved to strengthen the existing relationship and as confidence-building measures.”
