CLOSING CEREMONY OF CYCLE RALLY BEING ORGANIZED BY BSF TO COMMEMORATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF BANGLADESH LIBERATION WAR AND TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THE WAR HEROES

The Border Security Force (BSF) organized a Cycle Rally along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal to commemorate the 75th Independence Day of India and 50 years of the historic victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war of Bangladesh. This Cycle Rally was flagged off from the North Bengal Frontier Headquarters of BSF at Kadamtalla in Siliguri. In this Cycle Rally, 15 cyclists (10 men and 05 women) covered a distance of 550 km in 08 days through the Indo-Bangladesh International Border. Cyclists concluded their historic Cycle Rally by reaching ICP Petrapole, South Bengal Frontier, Kolkata in North 24 Parganas district on 19 December.

The closing ceremony of this Cycle Rally was celebrated on 19 December, 2021 (Sunday) at ICP, Petrapole. The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony function, Sh. Surjeet Singh Guleria, Deputy Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Inspector General, Sector Kolkata, BSF officers, NCB officers, subordinate officers and jawans were present. During the closing ceremony one hand BSF jawans presented Bhangra and on the other hand small children also presented cultural program also enthralled everyone. During the Closing Ceremony BSF band raised the patriotism in the minds of all the people by playing their tunes.

The purpose of this Cycle Rally is a small attempt to pay tribute to the valor and sacrifice of the war heroes in the 1971 war, as victory over Pakistan by sacrificing their lives in the war of liberation cannot be compared with any respect. Along with this, the purpose of the Rally is to create a sense of security among the people living along the Indo-Bangladesh border, to increase friendship between the Border Security Force and the Border Guard Bangladesh, to create awareness among the people living on the border to prevent crimes on the border, To create awareness among the people, to stop drug abuse and animal smuggling etc. The Border Security Force is determined to make this Cycle Rally a success with all its efforts. BSF officials stated that India and Bangladesh, the two neighboring countries, share cultural and social similarities and both countries have been displaying comradeship as true partners.

Sh. Surjeet Singh Guleria, Deputy Inspector General, BSF, South Bengal Frontier, appreciated, encouraged and praised wholeheartedly all the participants of this Cycle Rally who through the initiative of the Cycle Rally, enhanced mutual brotherhood between the two countries and stated that in future such friendly programs will continue to be conducted successfully without any disruption. He stated that this Cycle Rally will prove to be an important connection in strengthening the relations between India Bangladesh and Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh.
