The Army Commanders Polo Cup was held today at the Pat Williamson Ground, which is the oldest polo ground in the World.

The match was contested between the Rising Sun Team captained by Lt Col Samantaray and the Fort William team captained by Cdr (Retd) Akhil Sirohi. The proceedings of the day were flagged off with a throw-in by the chief guest, Lt Gen Manoj Pande, Army Commander Eastern Command.

The Rising Sun team took the lead straight away by putting in a couple of goals, building the pressure for their opponents. However, the Fort William team managed to score a few goals and slowly covered the gap after the second chukker.

The end of the last chukker saw both teams fighting furiously to maintain their scores with the Rising Sun Team beating Fort William Team 5-4. Lt Gen Manoj Pande gave away the prizes to both teams and lauded their efforts. The event culminated the Kolkata Polo Season.
