A terrible train accident took place at Maynaguri in the middle of Alipurduar – Coochbehar in North Bengal. Four or five bogies of Bikaner-Guwahati Express derailed. Many passengers are feared to have lost their lives due to this. The accident took place in Domohani area on Thursday. Several compartments of the express derailed.

The accident happened around 5 pm on Thursday. At least 50 passengers are feared dead by locals but not confirmed.

The train from Patna to Guwahati crashed at around 5 pm on Thursday. Upon receiving the news of the accident, a rescue team reached the spot from Alipurduar. 4-5 bogies of the train are twisted. It is feared that the death toll could rise. At the time of the accident, the speed of the train was 40 kilometers per hour.

The Guwahati-Bikan Express derailed around 5 pm on Thursday, the public relations officer of the North-East Frontier Railway said. The incident took place in the New Maynaguri and New Domohani sections of the Alipurduar division. The relief van is leaving. DRM-Rao is going. The rest of the information is not yet known. Rescue work has started during the war. Many have come out of the crashed train on their own. Efforts are being made to rescue the rest. Railway rescue team also reached the spot. The Sadar Hospital and other hospitals in the area have already been contacted.

The condition of the railway line at the time of the accident, the impact of the accident on the coaches, and how far they have fallen are being investigated. Railway sources said that the preliminary work of forming an investigation committee has also started.

Whether it is sabotage or an accident will be proved subject to investigation, but discussions have already started on the high-level stakeholders of Indian Railways, sources said.
