In a message from the hospital, it said that::
Mrs. Sandhya Gupta (Mukherjee) suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at around 7:30 pm because of an irregular heartbeat and could not be revived. The hospital deeply mourns the passing away of the legendary singer.
Earlier in the evening medical bulletin, it was said she has been put up in the ICU.
Geetshree as popularly she was called by fans on her songs, was admitted with Covid-19 infection, Ischaemic Heart Disease in LVF, multi-organ dysfunction, and fracture in the neck of femur (left side) on January 27, 2022. this morning she had a drop in her blood pressure and hence had to be put on vasopressor support.
She also has pain and distention of the abdomen since morning, which is being managed conservatively. She has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit for closer monitoring. Her condition remains critical but stable.
