BSF APPREHENDED 01 SMUGGLER WITH FISH SEED WORTH Rs 6.4 LAKH ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

On 13 July, 2022, Border Security Force troops under South Bengal Frontier apprehended a smuggler with 08 polybag fish eggs. The estimated value of the seized fish ovum is Rs.6,40,000/-. All these fish eggs were being smuggled to Bangladesh from the border area of North 24 Parganas district.
On 13th July, 2022, on the basis of intelligence received, the troops of Border Out Post Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion, Sector Kolkata noticed the movement of a suspect who was carrying a large bag towards the International Boundary. The alert troops apprehended him without giving any chance. 08 big fish egg packets/Bags were recovered from the smuggler. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Babu Sona Bain, age 42, Village-Uttarpara, Ghojadanga, PS-Basirhat, District-North 24 Parganas.
During preliminary interrogation, Babu Sona revealed that he had taken these fish seeds from an Indian smuggler on July 13 and was to be handed over to the Bangladeshi smuggler after crossing the duty line of BSF. For this work, he was to get Rs 300. But the Border Security Force apprehended him. He further revealed that he had tried to smuggle in a similar manner about a week ago, but had to return due to strict BSF surveillance.
Apprehended smugglers and seized fish eggs have been handed over to Basirhat Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Abdul Hanan Khan, Officiating Commanding Officer, 153 Battalion expressed happiness over this achievement of its troops. He stated that in order to stop smuggling; he has also sought cooperation from the police officers and other agencies of his area in ending smuggling and getting strict punishment for those involved in smuggling.
