Indian Deaf team win IDCA TRI-Nation ODI for the Deaf against Bangladesh Deaf team

The seven day long tournament was held at Merlin Rise Club Pavillion Cricket ground, Rajarhat, Kolkata

• Kolkata plays a welcoming host to IDCA Tri-Nation ODI for the Deaf, 2023.

• Teams Deaf Bangladesh & India* played the final match.

• This International tournament was held between 29th April & 5th May came to a successful close at Merlin Rise, Sport’s City, Club Pavilion cricket Grounds, Rajarhat, Kolkata.

• Chief Guest on the occasion of the closing ceremony was Acting Deputy British High Commissioner to Kolkata, Mr. Peter Cook.

• Present at the closing & prize distribution ceremony were Guest of Honours, Mr. Shib Shankar Paul, former Indian cricketer, Ms. Sarbani Bhattacharya, Vice President, Corporate Communications & CSR, Merlin Group. & Ms. Amita Prasad, Director, Indus Valley World School.

• Prizes sponsored by Century Ply & Merlin Group.

Delhi/ Kolkata 6th May January 2023. This year IDCA has scaled up their presence with a calendar of tournaments pan India to promote deaf cricket talent across the country. IDCA held these significant tournaments, IDCA Tri-Nation ODI 2023, between Bangladesh, India & Nepal, 2023 & IDCA T 20 Deaf Indian Premier League, 2023 in Kolkata, West Bengal. The tournament was played at Club Pavillion cricket ground of Merlin Rise, Rajarhat, Kolkata.

Congratulations to the Indian Deaf team Winners of IDCA Tri-Nation ODI for the Deaf, 2023 & Runner up Bangladesh Deaf team.

Next tournament scheduled from May 23rd to May 25th, 2023 in continuation with promoting diversity & inclusion. Bengaluru, Karnataka, South India will be the venue for the IDCA T10 women’s deaf league, with participation from 12 pan India women’s deaf teams.

Match details;

Sumit Jain, President, IDCA said, “IDCA is delighted to be hosted in Kolkata which is also one of the venues for the IPL. We are excited that the Tri-Nation ODI for the Deaf, 2023 tournament has generated public awareness & goodwill for deaf cricket. IDCA advisory board was delighted to welcome the presence of our Chief Guest at the closing ceremony, Acting Deputy British High Commissioner, Kolkata, Mr. Peter Cook. He added, ‘We are grateful and thank Century Ply, Emami Group & Merlin Group for their immense support to disability sport, especially cricket. IDCA will lead the country with our efforts to train & motivate deaf cricketers to play mainstream cricket as we follow the ICC format.”

IDCA Formed in 2020 by Mr. Sumit Jain (Member Differently-Abled Cricket Committee, BCCI) registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 with the sole aim to promote the game of Cricket amongst the deaf athletes of the country and to provide them the platform to showcase their talent and to represent their respective states at national level and country at international level.
Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) is a governing body for deaf cricket in India and a member of DICC (Deaf International Cricket Council) which closely works with ICC to promote Cricket amongst Deaf Cricketers globally.
