A two-day international medical conference – APINBCON and SAPICON – 2023 was held on the 20th and 21st May 2023 at the luxurious Hotel Montana Vista in Siliguri, the heart of North Bengal. It was jointly organized by the Association of Physicians of India North Bengal Unit and the Siliguri Branch of API.
Total 38 faculties consisting of academic and professional excellence from 17 different cities of the country which include Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Pondicherry, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Guwahati, Tezpur, Shillong, Ranchi, Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and obviously Siliguri and even faculty from Sri Lanka attended this conference.
Globally renowned expert doctors from different specializations discussed recent advancements in medical fields like Medicine, Diabetology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Respiratory Medicine, Infection, Public Health, Virology, Rheumatology, Medical Ethics, Medical Research, etc. Even medico socially pertinent topic like Home based care in Geriatrics was also the topic of discussion in such an enriched academic feast and we are very much proud to convey that our editorial board member and renowned geriatrician and social entrepreneur Dr. Dhires Kumar Chowdhury was invited to speak on this topic. As told to us Dr. Chowdhury mentioned that “It is amazing to see that the importance of Geriatric and Home-based care is increasing day by day and is even being discussed in medical conferences. PG trainees from such medical colleges also participated in the Medical Quiz Competition and a team from NRS Medical College won the competition for their outstanding performance.

Renowned Internal Medicine Consultant and popular physician of North Bengal Dr. Shankha Suvro Sen played a pivot role as an Organizing Chairperson of this remarkable conference and Eminent Physician and most dynamic faculty of North Bengal Medical College Dr. Amit Kumar Adhikary was the organizing secretary of this exemplary conference. Professional and cordial reception to every faculty, delegate, and guest was extraordinarily arranged under the vibrant leadership of Dr. Dipanjan Bandopadhyay, HOD, Medicine, North Bengal Medical College as a chairperson of the reception committee of the conference. The three most eminent consultant physicians of North Bengal Dr. Saikat Dutta, Dr. Samarjit Banik, and Dr. Apu Adhikari also played very important roles as Scientific Chairpersons.
Many doctors from various districts of North Bengal including Siliguri and neighboring Sikkim participated as delegates in this conference.
In terms of contents of discussion, faculties, professionalism, most cordial hospitality, management and overall, it was much beyond a conference.
