Lakkhichhara and Sonar Bangla Circus enthralled the audience at Princeton Club.
• A live music event under Jamsteady – a live music property by Smoke Inc with Princeton Club as the sanctum sanctorum of this music movement in India.

Kolkata, the quintessential cultural capital of India where music is the soul of the city, is known for patronizing the movement of music. Be it Jazz, Rock, Fusion, Indi pop, or ethnic – the city always embraces all genres of music originating in other countries. When it comes to music Princeton Club comes as one of the pioneering venues for hosting such musical soirees. Today Princeton Club has brought epaar bangla and opaar bangla closer transcending the borders of two countries with a mesmerizing performance from Sonar Bangla Circus from Bangladesh and Lakkhichhara from Kolkata. And this live performance was one of the events under Jamsteady.
The sultry evening with a whiff of fresh drizzles as a welcome relief this summer, witnessed a crowd grooving to catchy tunes by Lakkhichhara. Bangladeshi band Sonar Bangla Circus stole hearts with their live performance at the Princeton Club and belted out popular numbers like Mrittu Utpadon Karkhana, Amar Naam Oshukh, Ondho Deyal, Epitaph, and more.
Jamsteady – a Live music property that started off in Princeton Club, the new age social club in Kolkata, by Smoke Inc in the year 2012, has become synonymous with quality live music experiences here.
“Princeton Club has been always at the forefront when it comes to music. It patronizes music of all genres. Jamstedy, a collaboration of Princeton Club and Smoke Inc, started off as a weekly live original musical event, Over the last decade, it has assumed the centre stage for live gigs, rock bands, and other genres of a musical movement in Kolkata. We have hosted over 200 such live musical soirees here as part of the property and the live performance by Lakkhichhara and Sonar Bangla Circus is an extension of this property. We pledge to entertain the music-loving discerning audience who throng to Princeton Club with the hope of listening to gigs and live music in the years to come”, said Sanjay Karmakar, Manager, Operations, Princeton Club.
“Jamsteady was launched at Princeton Club in 2012 as it was already known for the live music scene in Kolkata. The club, the team, and the environment were perfect to host live original music evenings. We have taken this movement from Princeton Club, Kolkata to Goa and made it a national platform. But our sanctum sanctorum will be at Princeton Club”, said Nishit Arora, founder of Smoke Inc. We are planning more such music nights at Princeton Club this year.
“It was really a great experience performing at Princeton Club in front of such an energetic crowd. We thought of performing for an hour but as per the audience’s request, we couldn’t stop playing and performed for one and half hours. Some of the songs which we played were Jibone Chaiche Aro Beshi, Kemon Acho Sohor, Meghallar along with four new songs which will be released shortly.” said Debaditya Chaudhury – Keyboardist (Lakkhichhara).
Lakkhichhara, a popular rock band, that has been enthralling the audience for decades is a five to six-member band comprising Rajiv Mitra – Vocal, Gaurab Chatterjee – Drums / Vocal, Debaditya Chaudhury – keyboard, Bodhisattwa Ghosh- Guitar, John paul- Guitar / BanjoAnd Guest musician – Mainak nagchowdhury – Bass.
Shonar Bangla Circus is a five-member band — founding member, songwriter and lead Probar Ripon; guitarist Seth Panduranga Blumberg, who was a part of the Grammy Award-winning group Kings of Rhythm led by Ike Turner; bassist Shakil Haque; percussionist Hasin Aryan; and producer, keyboardist, composer and arranger Saad Chowdhury.
