OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE OF EASTERN RAILWAY IN NEW TRACK LAYING
Kolkata, June 10, 2013 :
Eastern Railway has made a record achievement by laying 120 km of new track in 2022-23. Among these 120 km of new track laying, 80 km belongs to the doubling work and 40 km is for the new line section. This is the best-ever performance of Eastern Railway over the last five years.
This achievement of Eastern Railway in track laying clearly indicates that the recent propaganda in some media regarding the poor performance of Railways in respect of new track laying is baseless and intentional.
It may be noted that, in 2022-23, three Super Critical Projects viz Bandel – Boinchi 3rd line (31 km), Boinchi – Shaktigarh 3rd line (26 km), and Dankuni – Chandanpur (25.41 km) and one Critical Project i.e. Nimtita – New Farakka doubling (25.42 km) have been completed. Besides, some important multi-tracking projects have also been completed such as Bazarsau – Azimganj (42.15 km), Katwa – Bazarsau (30.59 km), and Sondalia – Champapukur (23.64 km) have also been completed in 2022-23. Moreover, 15 ROBs have been commissioned during 2022-23 to boost safety and faster movement of Road Traffic.
By such commissioning of 80 Km length doubling, socio-economic development of the backward regions of West Bengal is likely to take place. The suburban network of Eastern Railway connecting rural areas with urban has gained the confidence of the general public as well as daily commuters doing small business at Kolkata; as a cheap & reliable transport system.
Similarly, with the provision of a 40 Km New Line (e.g. between Mohanpur & Hansdiha), Godda the backward region of Jharkhand has been connected to the main Railway Network of Howrah –Delhi Route. New Trains have been introduced from Godda.
