INAUGURATION OF TWO NEW ESCALATORS AT DURGAPUR STATION AND THE INTRODUCTION OF A NEW STOPPAGE OF THE PURBANCHAL EXPRESS AT PANAGARH STATION

Shri S. S. Ahluwalia, Hon’ble Member of Parliament inaugurated two newly built escalators at Durgapur Station in the presence of Shri Lakshman Chandra Ghorui Hon’ble MLA. Hon’ble MP also flagged off 15047/15048 Kolkata – Gorakhpur – Kolkata Purbanchal Express from its new stoppage at Panagarh Station on 07.09.2023. The introduction of a new stoppage of the Purbanchal Express at Panagarh and the commissioning of two new escalators at Durgapur will be an addition to passenger comfort and convenience for movement. Shri Chetna Nand Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol Division of Eastern Railway was also present on the occasion.
Shri S. S. Ahluwalia, Hon’ble M.P first administered the oath of Pancha Pran and explained various Railway projects around the Durgapur area and inaugurated two newly installed escalators at Platform No. 3 and Platform No. 4 of Durgapur station. Hon’ble MP said that Escalators are being provided at the Railway stations to cater to the increasing rush of passengers at the station. It increases the speed of movement of passengers on the platform area and quickly decongests the platform area. It is especially useful for the old aged and specially able (Divyang) for easy and hassle-free movement. It is very convenient for easy movement of passengers along with their luggage. Shri Lakshman Chandra Ghorui, Hon’ble MLA also spoke on this occasion.
In his speech at Panagarh, Shri S. S. Ahluwalia, Hon’ble M.P said that the stoppage of 15047/15048 Kolkata – Gorakhpur – Kolkata Purbanchal Express at Panagarh will immensely help the traders, farmers, artisans and common people which will foster socio-economic development of West Bengal.
15047 Kolkata – Gorakhpur Purbanchal Express will arrive at Panagarh at 17.30 hrs. and will depart at 17.31 hrs. and 15048 Gorakhpur – Kolkata Purbanchal Express will arrive at Panagarh station at 01:02 hrs. and will depart at 01.03 hrs. The train will stop at Panagarh station for 1 minute in both directions on an experimental basis.
