CCRS APPROVES EI-BASED SIGNALLING SYSTEM ON JOKA TO MAJERHAT STRETCH OF PURPLE LINE

Here is another good news for all Metro commuters!!!
Shri Janak Kumar Garg, Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS), NF Circle has approved the commissioning of an Electronic Interlocking (EI) based Signalling System as the initial stage of the Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) based Signalling System on both UP and DN lines in between Joka Station to upcoming Majerhat Station of Purple Line and Joka Depot of Joka-Esplanade Corridor. His approval letter dtd. 16.01.2024 has reached Metro Rail Bhavan today.
As a result of this approval, now Metro rakes on this stretch can be run with EI based Signalling System. At present, services on this stretch between Joka to Taratala are being run following the ‘One Train Only System’. This approval of CCRS will enhance flexibility in train operations and a number of services can be increased if the situation demands on this stretch. It is to be noted that at present, a total of 24 services ply on this stretch daily.
Metro services on the Purple Line will be extended up to Majerhat station very soon.
