EASTERN RAILWAY’S RPF SEIZED 16704 BOTTLES OF LIQUOR AT KOLKATA STATION

As the RPF stepped up security surveillance in the awake of Republic Day, and not letting any suspected item pass unchecked, the RPF personnel at Kolkata station nabbed a huge amount of contraband & inflammable materials arrived at Kolkata station on 20.1.2024 in disguise of cutlery booked in the parcel van of 12318 DN Akal Takth Express from Amritsar.
On arriving at Kolkata, the RPF personnel detected that in the luggage of the train and found that there were 45 Nos. of gunny bags which was booked for Patna but arrived in Kolkata unclaimed. On suspicion, they started searching and found that those gunny bags contained bottles of liquor which are not permitted to be booked as luggage due to its inflammability but it was dispatched in disguise as cutlery.. Eastern Railway’s RPF seized the entire consignment of 16704 bottles of liquor and a case was lodged as per Railway Act against the sender/consigner.
