Desun Hospital celebrated Maternal Health Awareness Day with a compelling discussion on “Empowering Maternal Awareness.” The session featured insights from two distinguished gynecologists, Dr. Ayan Mukhopadhyay, Senior Consultant & Head of Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Gynae-Oncology at Desun Hospital, Kolkata, and Dr. Aparupa Ghosh, Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Dr. Aparupa Ghosh emphasized the increasing awareness among women, leading to a better understanding of various health issues. She highlighted the prevalence of conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome and cysts among young girls, attributing these trends to lifestyle changes. Additionally, Dr. Ghosh discussed the rising incidence of diseases like fibroid uterus, breast cancer, and cervix cancer, stressing the importance of early detection through increased awareness. She noted that many women often present in the later stages of these conditions, and early diagnosis can significantly improve treatment outcomes.
During the discussion, Dr. Ghosh also addressed maternal health during pregnancy, highlighting potential complications such as structural fetal problems, lung diseases, and depression.
