EAST-WEST METRO CARRIES 17.69% MORE PASSENGERS ON 22.01.2024 (MONDAY)

East-West Metro ( Green Line) has won the hearts of book-lovers. For the visitors to the on-going 47th International Kolkata Book Fair, Kolkata Metro’s Green Line has been the most sought-after mode of transport. As a result footfalls in East-West Metro have been increasing during the ‘Boi Mela’.
The passenger count in this Corridor on 22.01.2024 (Monday) was 45,511 in comparison to the 15.01.2024 (Monday) passenger count of 38,671. This has been a 17.69% rise in passenger count.
It would not be out of place to mention here that passenger earnings on 22.01.2024 were Rs. 6,79,557 /- which is 12.96% more than the previous Monday’s (i.e. 15.01.2024) passenger earnings (Rs 6,01,611).
Adequate ticket counters are being opened to cater to the expected rush of book-lovers along with the deployment of additional staff and security personnel. Metro officers and staff have been working in tandem to ensure smooth, fast, and hassle-free services to book-lovers.
Shri Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, Metro Railway has informed that book fare goers have expressed their happiness as Metro has ensured their smooth journey to and from the fairground. “They have congratulated Metro Railway for running services till 10.00 pm every day as well as on Sundays”, he has added.
