EAST-WEST METRO CARRIES 29.78% MORE PASSENGERS ON 28.01.2024 (SUNDAY)

For the benefit of the book-lovers, Metro Railway has been running additional services in the East-West Corridor (Green Line) on weekdays and special services on Sundays so that they can easily visit the Kolkata Book Fair ground. This move has won the hearts of book-lovers. For the visitors willing to reach the on-going 47th International Kolkata Book Fair, Kolkata Metro’s Green Line has been the most sought-after mode of transport. As a result footfalls in East-West Metro have been increasing considerably during the ‘Boi Mela’.
The passenger count in this Corridor on 28.01.2024 (Sunday) was 36,003 in comparison to the 21.01.2024 (Sunday) passenger count of 27,741. This has been a 29.78% rise in passenger count.
It would not be out of place to mention here that passenger earnings on 28.01.2024 were Rs. 5,87,535 /- which is 31.03% more than the previous Sunday’s (i.e. 21.01.2024) passenger earnings (Rs 4,48,375).
Adequate ticket counters are being opened to cater to the expected rush of book-lovers along with the deployment of additional staff and security personnel. Metro officers and staff have been working in tandem to ensure smooth, fast, and hassle-free services to book-lovers.
Book fairgoers have expressed their happiness as Metro has ensured their smooth journey to and from the fairground. “Exhaustive planning and adequate as well as proper deployment of staff have helped to serve our commuters better in the fair days. We are encouraged to receive positive feedback from them as we are running services till 10.00 pm every day as well as on Sundays”, Kausik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer, Metro Railway has informed.
