EASTERN RAILWAY TO RUN SPECIAL EMU LOCAL ON THE OCCASION OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA’S 128TH “KOLKATA RETURN DAY” ON 19.02.2024

Swami Vivekananda, whose real name was Narendranath Datta, embarked on a transformative voyage to the United States in 1893 to attend the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago. His stirring speech, beginning with the iconic words, “Sisters and Brothers of America,” resonated deeply with the audience, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries. Vivekananda’s message of universal brotherhood, tolerance, and the harmony of religions captivated the world, earning him widespread admiration and acclaim.
After spending nearly four years abroad, spreading the teachings of Vedanta and Hindu philosophy, Swami Vivekananda returned to Kolkata on February 19, 1897. His homecoming was greeted with immense joy and reverence by the people of India, who were inspired by his profound insights and unwavering commitment to the upliftment of humanity.
On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s auspicious 128th “Kolkata Return Day”, Eastern Railway has decided to run one EMU special from Budge Budge to Sealdah on 19.02.2024 (Monday) to clear the anticipated rush of passengers. The Budge Budge – Sealdah EMU Special will leave Budge Budge at 09:55 hrs. to reach Sealdah at 10:52 hrs. The special train will stop at all stations including flag stations enroute.
