ASSAM RIFLES ASSISTS IN THE SAFE HOMECOMING OF VILLAGERS OF MONBUNG MEITEI IN JIRIBAM, MANIPUR
In a significant milestone towards restoring normalcy, Assam Rifles provided assistance in ensuring the safe return of villagers who had taken shelter at Chingdong Leikai Primary School Relief Camp back to their homes at Village Monbung, Jiribam, Manipur on 05 Aug 2024.
A total of 133 people, including 26 men, 45 women, and 62 children returned back to their homes in Monbung after the improved security situation in the area. The homecoming move was meticulously coordinated under the Jiribam District Administration with Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Jiribam police. Officers of Assam Rifles, CRPF along with DC & SP moved to the village to build confidence and a sense of security in the returning villagers.
The backdrop of this homecoming is the violence that erupted in Jiribam on 06 June 24, prompting the swift evacuation of Village Monbung residents by Assam Rifles personnel. Today’s return marks the culmination of their safety efforts and highlights the ongoing endeavours to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The Assam Rifles have shown time and again that they are not just a military force but a professional entity capable of nuanced, community-centric operations. Their recent actions in Jiribam have underscored their role as peacekeepers, effectively preventing any potential escalation with tact and a deep understanding of the local sentiment.
