WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK WAS OBSERVED BY B.R.SINGH HOSPITAL, SEALDAH WITH HUGE ARDOUR

Kolkata, August 6th, 2024

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated globally in the first week of August every year, supported by WHO & UNICEF. This week is celebrated to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding around the world. Breastfeeding is a baby’s best start for a healthy life and has lifelong benefits for the health and well-being of both mother and babies. Apart from supplying all the necessary nutrients in the proper proportions for babies, breastfeeding protects newborn babies against allergies, sickness, obesity, and many other diseases like diabetes, cancer, etc. Further, breastfeeding helps mothers recover very quickly from childbirth and also helps in losing weight. More so, breastfeeding reduces the risk of high blood pressure, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and type 2 diabetes for mothers. The theme for this year’s celebration is – “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All”.
