EASTERN RAILWAY CATERS TO MILLIONS OF PASSENGERS WITH EXTENSIVE EMU SERVICES IN SEALDAH DIVISION

In an effort to meet the daily travel needs of millions of commuters, Eastern Railway continues to operate an extensive Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) network, particularly in the busy Sealdah Division. With the constant influx of passengers, Division has reached their maximum capacity in terms of services, ensuring smooth and timely transportation for lakhs of daily passengers.
The Sealdah Division provides 892 EMU services every day, catering to the heavy demand from suburban and urban commuters. To maintain this large network, 97 EMU rakes are utilized for daily services, ensuring high-frequency train availability across Sealdah Main, North, and South sections. Additionally, 6 EMU rakes are kept on standby for essential maintenance to ensure smooth operations and avoid disruptions. The infrastructure has been upgraded, with platforms 01 to 05 at Sealdah station extended to accommodate 12-coach rakes, further enhancing capacity and convenience for passengers.
Sealdah Division is operating at full capacity, ensuring that the maximum number of services are provided each day to meet the high demand. Despite being in a saturated condition, the Division are committed to maintaining punctuality, safety, and convenience for their passengers. The seamless management of EMU services in this division is demonstrate the Railway’s dedication to offering efficient and reliable transport services. The introduction of 12-coach rakes, platform extensions, and a well-maintained fleet ensure that passengers can travel with ease and comfort during peak hours and throughout the day.
