Protests by Free Balochistan Movement in Europe Mark 77th Occupation Day of Balochistan

LONDON, 27 March 2025: Activists from the Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) organized protests in the UK, Germany, Netherlands, and Finland on March 27 to mark the 77th anniversary of the occupation of Eastern Balochistan by Pakistan. The demonstrators called for international attention to the ongoing human rights violations and the continued occupation of Balochistan.
The protests featured placards and banners with slogans condemning Pakistan’s illegal occupation of Balochistan since March 27, 1948, and its decades-long human rights abuses in the region. The demonstrators called on the United Nations and the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for its actions in Balochistan, particularly the enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the widespread impunity granted to Pakistani death squads targeting Baloch people.
The FBM protesters highlighted the plight of Baloch activists, especially those involved with the Baloch Youth Yakjehti (BYC), whose members have been subjected to abductions, torture, and killings by Pakistani forces. The protesters issued a strong demand for Pakistan to halt its ongoing crackdown against BYC activists and to release all Baloch detainees, including the leadership of the BYC.
“The world must take a stand against the brutal repression of the Baloch people. Pakistan must be held accountable for its crimes, including the enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings carried out by its security forces,” the FBM activists demanded.
The protests also emphasised the voices of Baloch families who have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Balochistan, demanding the return of their loved ones who have been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan has been implicated in numerous killings of abducted Baloch individuals in staged encounters, further fuelling the growing resistance movement in the region, led by groups like the BYC.
“These families are enduring unimaginable suffering as they search for their loved ones. The international community must not turn a blind eye to their plight,” the protesters demanded.
The FBM also called for an end to the Pakistani state’s repression in Balochistan, urging the United Nations to take a stronger stance against Pakistan’s actions and to demand the immediate cessation of military operations against the Baloch people.
The Free Balochistan Movement continues to advocate for the rights of the Baloch people, pushing for global awareness and solidarity in the fight for the liberation of Balochistan. Protests like the one held on March 27 are part of a broader campaign to draw attention to the ongoing human rights abuses in the region and to press for international intervention to end Pakistan’s occupation.
