SPECIAL TICKET CHECKING DRIVE ON SEALDAH–BARASAT–HASNABAD SECTION: ENHANCING PASSENGER EXPERIENCE
Kolkata, November 7, 2025:
Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway once again conducted a special ticket checking drive to promote awareness about ticket purchasing and ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for passengers on the Sealdah–Barasat–Hasnabad section. The drive was led by Dr. Uday Shankar Jha, Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM), along with the Divisional Commercial Manager, Sealdah.
During the drive, 605 passengers were apprehended for ticketless or irregular travel. In addition, 155 cases of unbooked luggage and 46 cases of spitting were detected. In total, 806 cases were registered, and fines amounting to a substantial sum were realised.

The primary objective of this drive was to educate passengers on the importance of purchasing valid tickets and adhering to railway rules and regulations for their own convenience and safety.
During the inspection, the PCCM also reviewed various passenger amenities and facilities, including booking counters and ATVM/CoTVM machines at Madhyamgram, Barasat, and Hasnabad stations. He advised officials to further popularise these machines among passengers to facilitate quick and easy ticketing without standing in long queues at booking counters, thereby improving overall passenger comfort.
PCCM Dr. Uday Shankar Jha urged all passengers to always travel with proper tickets and cooperate with railway authorities in maintaining a disciplined and pleasant travel environment.
