INDIAN ARMY HONOURS PORTERS ON LABOUR DAY AT LAMANG AND MENCHUKA

Spearhead Division of Spearcorps commemorated Labour Day at forward locations, Menchuka valley, paying tribute to the dedication, resilience, and invaluable contribution of porters who continue to play a vital role in sustaining operations in challenging high-altitude terrain.
As part of the observance, a meaningful interaction and tea gathering were organised with the porters, recognising their hard work and steadfast support in ensuring the movement of essential stores, supplies, and logistics to remote forward areas. More than 50 porters participated in the gathering, which provided an opportunity for informal interaction, expression of gratitude, and strengthening of mutual trust.
The event highlighted the important role played by local porters as an essential link in operational sustenance, particularly in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. Their contribution reflects courage, commitment, and quiet service in support of the nation’s security framework.
The gathering also reinforced the strong bond between the Indian Army and local communities in border areas. Such initiatives under the spirit of Operation Sadbhavana continue to promote respect, cooperation, and civil-military camaraderie at the grassroots level.
The commemoration concluded with a message of gratitude and appreciation towards the porters, acknowledging them as a dependable backbone of operational support in the frontier region.
