Indian Air Force Marks ‘Operation Sindoor’ Anniversary with 88-Hour Commemorative Run in New Delhi

600 Personnel and Civilian Volunteers Participate in Tribute Event

Indian Air Force organized a special 88-hour “Operation Sindoor Commemorative Run” in New Delhi from May 7 to May 10, 2026, to mark the first anniversary of the successful 88-hour air operations carried out by the force.

The commemorative event highlighted the operational strength, precision strike capability, and strategic readiness demonstrated by the Indian Air Force during the historic mission. Around 600 participants, including personnel from various commands of the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, and civilian volunteers, took part in the endurance relay run.

The event commenced at 1:05 AM on May 7 from India Gate and was flagged off by the Air Officer in Charge Administration (AOA). The run concluded on May 10 at 5:00 PM at Air Force Station New Delhi, where the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) formally flagged in the participants.

Organized in a continuous relay format spanning 88 hours, the event witnessed active cooperation from civil authorities and enthusiastic participation from members of the public. The route covered several iconic locations in the national capital, including:

• India Gate
• Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg
• Air Headquarters Vayu Bhawan
• Nehru Park
• New Moti Bagh Road

According to officials, the primary objective of the commemorative run was to strengthen esprit de corps among defence personnel while increasing public engagement and awareness regarding the role and commitment of India’s armed forces.

The Indian Air Force stated that the successful execution of the event reflected not only a tribute to an important milestone in the force’s operational history but also demonstrated strong teamwork and civil-military cooperation.

As part of the associated celebrations, the Indian Air Force Jazz Band also delivered a live musical performance at Nehru Park on May 10 between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM, drawing public attention and adding a cultural dimension to the commemorative activities.

The event symbolized discipline, endurance, unity, and the continuing bond between the Indian Armed Forces and citizens.
