IIT Ropar Welcomes Bihar Delegation Under Yuva Sangam Phase VI to Strengthen National Integration
Ropar, Punjab: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar on Wednesday welcomed a delegation of students from Bihar as part of Yuva Sangam Phase VI, a flagship youth exchange programme of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative.
The inaugural ceremony was held at the Senate Hall of IIT Ropar, where Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, attended as the Chief Guest and formally welcomed the participants. The visiting delegation received a traditional Punjabi welcome from students, faculty members, and staff, including floral garlands, symbolising the spirit of cultural harmony and hospitality.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Ahuja described Yuva Sangam as much more than a cultural exchange programme, calling it a significant platform for strengthening national unity through meaningful interactions among the country’s youth. He expressed confidence that the engagement between participants from Bihar and Punjab would foster lasting friendships and deeper mutual understanding.
He also recalled that IIT Ropar had earlier flagged off the Punjab delegation to Bihar on 22 May 2026, stating that the reciprocal visit completes an important cycle of cultural and educational exchange between the two states.
IIT Ropar has been designated as the Nodal Institution for Punjab under Yuva Sangam Phase VI, with Bihar serving as its paired state. The initiative is structured around five key themes—Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions and Culture), Pragati (Development and Governance), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-People Connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology and Innovation)—to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of India’s diversity.
The sixth phase of the programme involves 22 Higher Education Institutions across the country, facilitating youth exchanges between paired states as part of the Government of India’s vision of promoting national integration through education and cultural immersion.
During their six-day stay in Punjab, the Bihar delegation will participate in a carefully planned itinerary that includes visits to historical and cultural landmarks, academic interactions, laboratory tours at IIT Ropar, and engagements with local communities. The programme aims to provide participants with first-hand exposure to Punjab’s rich heritage, developmental initiatives, governance practices, and technological advancements while strengthening bonds of unity among young Indians.
