Education Minister Reviews Preparations for NEET UG Re-Examination Scheduled on June 21

With the NEET UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday to assess the preparedness of all stakeholders involved in conducting the examination smoothly, transparently, and fairly.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Education, representatives of State Governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA), and higher educational institutions across the country. Also present were School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi, and NTA Director General Abhishek Singh.
Focus on Transparency and Fairness
During the meeting, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stressed the need to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and efficiency throughout the examination process. He directed all concerned agencies and authorities to remain fully prepared and vigilant to ensure the smooth conduct of the re-examination.
The Minister emphasized that close coordination among central authorities, state governments, district administrations, and educational institutions would be critical in ensuring a free and fair examination environment. He informed participants that designated officers from the Ministry of Education would be deployed across states to coordinate activities related to the re-examination and report directly to a central command centre headed by the Director General of NTA.
Student Welfare Given Priority
Highlighting the importance of a stress-free experience for candidates, the Minister instructed state-level nodal officers to ensure that students receive all necessary facilities at examination centres.
School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar echoed the sentiment, stressing that candidates should be provided with adequate seating arrangements, drinking water, and other essential amenities to help them appear for the examination comfortably and without anxiety.
Coordination and Security Measures Strengthened
Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi described the period leading up to the examination as crucial and called for proactive coordination, timely communication of instructions, and strict adherence to all examination protocols.
NTA Director General Abhishek Singh informed the meeting that the agency is working closely with district-level coordination committees, local administrations, state police departments, and intelligence agencies to ensure foolproof security and seamless conduct of the examination.
Comprehensive Preparedness Review
The review meeting included detailed discussions on examination readiness, security arrangements, logistical planning, grievance redressal systems, coordination mechanisms, and compliance with examination guidelines. States and Union Territories were advised to maintain continuous coordination with all stakeholders to ensure transparency and smooth execution of the re-examination process.
The meeting, conducted in a hybrid format, was attended by 222 participants, including senior officials from various states and Union Territories, vice-chancellors, directors of higher educational institutions, and nodal officers from centrally funded institutes.
Participants assured the Union Education Minister of their full cooperation and commitment to implementing all necessary measures to provide candidates with a smooth, secure, and hassle-free examination experience.
National Focus on Examination Integrity
The review reflects the government’s emphasis on strengthening public confidence in competitive examinations by ensuring strict compliance with protocols, enhanced monitoring mechanisms, and student-centric arrangements. With lakhs of aspirants expected to appear for the re-examination, authorities are aiming to ensure that the process remains transparent, credible, and free from disruptions.
