Putin to Hold Talks with Myanmar’s Min Aung Hlaing in Moscow on August 18

Moscow, August 16, 2026: Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet Myanmar’s President Min Aung Hlaing at the Kremlin on August 18 during the latter’s official visit to Russia.
According to an announcement from the Russian side, the talks will focus on strengthening Russia-Myanmar bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors. The two leaders are expected to review opportunities for expanding engagement and developing new areas of partnership between Moscow and Naypyidaw.
The discussions will also cover major international and regional developments, with the leaders expected to exchange views on issues affecting the broader geopolitical environment.
The meeting is also expected to produce concrete outcomes, with several bilateral documents planned for signing during the visit.
The Putin–Min Aung Hlaing meeting comes as Russia continues to develop relations with Myanmar across political, economic and strategic spheres, reflecting Moscow’s broader engagement with countries in Asia.
The official-level talks are expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to assess existing cooperation and explore new avenues for closer bilateral ties.
