APNIC 62: Mumbai Conference Puts AI, Cybersecurity and Internet Resilience in Focus
Mumbai, September 7, 2026: More than 600 internet experts, policymakers and technology leaders are meeting in Mumbai for APNIC 62, with artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and future-ready digital infrastructure dominating discussions on the Internet’s next phase of growth.
Being held from September 4–10, the 62nd conference of the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) is hosted by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI), with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Government of Maharashtra.
AI, Cybersecurity and Network Security Take Centre Stage
The conference is examining how rapidly expanding AI services and digital connectivity are increasing pressure on Internet infrastructure.

- Network automation
- Cybersecurity
- Routing security
- IPv6 deployment
- Internet governance
- Scalable and resilient network infrastructure
Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, said India’s expanding digital ecosystem makes secure, resilient and future-ready Internet infrastructure a priority. He said APNIC 62 provides an important platform for India to work with the Asia-Pacific technical community toward an open, inclusive and trusted Internet.
India’s IPv6 Experience in Focus
APNIC Director General Jia Rong Low said AI and other technological changes are creating unprecedented demands on the networks supporting modern economies and societies.
He highlighted India’s progress in IPv6 adoption, saying it demonstrates how technical expertise, investment and collaboration can support large-scale Internet development.
Dr. Devesh Tyagi, CEO of NIXI, said the conference comes at an important time as India’s digital economy and Internet infrastructure continue to expand. He said APNIC 62 will allow India to share its experience while strengthening cooperation with regional experts.
Rajesh Chharia, President of ISPAI, said Internet service providers are on the frontline of meeting growing demand for reliable, secure and high-performance connectivity.
Keynotes on AI and Cyber Trust
The opening ceremony features keynote sessions by Amajit Gupta, CEO and Managing Director of Lightstorm Group, on AI-driven network automation, and Yukako Uchida of JPCERT/CC, on trust and cooperation in cybersecurity.
The sessions are expected to address how AI can improve network operations while maintaining strong security and trust.
NIXI–APNIC MoU on IPv6 and Routing Security
A key development is scheduled for September 8, when NIXI and APNIC will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on strengthening the deployment of IPv6 and routing security technologies.
The partnership is aimed at improving the security and resilience of India’s Internet infrastructure while supporting its long-term growth.
