President Appoints 14 Judicial Officers as Judges and Additional Judges Across Four High Courts
Appointments Cover Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Jharkhand and Karnataka High Courts
New Delhi, September 19, 2026: The President of India has appointed 14 judicial officers as Judges and Additional Judges to four High Courts, following consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
The appointments, announced by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on September 19, 2026, cover the Delhi High Court, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Jharkhand High Court and Karnataka High Court. A contemporaneous report also confirms the appointment of 14 judicial officers across these four High Courts.
Delhi High Court
Three judicial officers have been appointed as Judges of the Delhi High Court:
- Smt. Nivedita Anil Sharma
- Smt. Nisha Sahay Saxena
- Sanjay Sharma
Five others have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Delhi High Court:
- Bharat Parashar
- Dr. (Smt.) Aditi Choudhary
- Dinesh Bhatt
- Arun Bhardwaj
- Yash Paul Bourney
Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court
Yash Paul Bourney has been appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, according to the government release.
Jharkhand High Court
The following three judicial officers have been appointed as Judges of the Jharkhand High Court:
- Manoj Prasad
- Akhil Kumar
- Ram Sharma
Karnataka High Court
Three judicial officers have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court:
- Smt. Usharani
- K.S. Bharath Kumar
- Smt. Nerale V. Bhavani
Constitutional Appointment Process
The appointments have been made in exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, following consultation with the Chief Justice of India, as stated in the PIB announcement.
The appointments form part of the constitutional process for filling judicial positions in the country’s High Courts.
