CHAITANYAPUR, HALDIA: The Sri Sri Durga Puja 2026 at Vivekananda Mission Asram in Chaitanyapur, Sutahata, Purba Medinipur, brings attention to the enduring relationship between spiritual devotion and service to humanity.
Established on 3 August 1962 by Brahmachari Vaktichaitanya Maharaj, the ashram follows the philosophy of “Serve God in Man,” inspired by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa and Swami Vivekananda.
Beyond religious observances, the institution has built a longstanding reputation for social service through education, specialised learning for visually impaired students, eye care, vocational training and charitable healthcare.
The ashram’s spiritual activities include the worship of the Divine Mother Durga, reflecting a tradition that connects religious devotion with compassion and community welfare.
Durga Puja symbolises the triumph of good over evil and celebrates the strength, courage and protective power of the Divine Mother. In the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda tradition, these values also find expression through service to the underprivileged and the promotion of human dignity.
Located at Viveknagar, Chaitanyapur, near Haldia, Vivekananda Mission Asram continues to combine spiritual values with educational and humanitarian initiatives.
The institution’s Durga Puja offers an opportunity to reflect on a message that extends beyond the festival: true devotion finds its fullest expression in compassion, selfless service and the welfare of humanity.
