Provide selfless service to patients with a smile, Didi tells private hospitals
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today urged the private hospitals to treat patients, specially those from economically weaker sections, with a smile. She was speaking at the function of a private hospital in Newtown.
The CM said that hospitals are not a place for business. “The State Government is ready to provide full cooperation to you but not for fleecing the poor,” she reiterated. She added that for incidents of violence at hospitals, law will take its own course.
The CM suggested to the private hospitals that they could start ‘budget section’ for poor people.
On February 22, 2017, the Chief Minister had met with representatives of the private hospitals and nursing homes in and around Kolkata. In the meeting she had announced that a Commission to regulate the private hospitals would be set up.

আরও একবার বেসরকারি হাসপাতালগুলিকে রোগীদের প্রতি মানবিক আচরণের আর্জি জানালেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। আজ নিউটাউনে এক বেসরকারি হাসপাতালের অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তব্য রাখার সময় তিনি বলেন মানবিকতার সঙ্গে, হাসিমুখে মানুষের জন্য কাজ করুন।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “সরকার সবরকম সাহায্য করতে প্রস্তুত, কিন্তু গরীব মানুষদের লুঠ করা চলবে না”। তিনি আরও বলেন, হাসপাতালে কোন রকম অশান্তি আমরা সমর্থন করি না। আইন আইনের পথে চলবে।
গরীবদের জন্য বেসরকারি হাসপাতালগুলিকে একটি ‘বাজেট সেকশন’ তৈরী করার প্রস্তাব দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।
গত ২২ ফেব্রুয়ারি মুখ্যমন্ত্রী টাউন হলে কলকাতা ও আশেপাশের বেসরকারি হাসপাতালগুলির সঙ্গে একটি বৈঠক করেন। এই বৈঠকে তিনি বেসরকারি হাসপাতাল ও নার্সিংহোমের জন্য একটি হেলথ রেগুলেটরি কমিশন গঠন করার কথাও ঘোষণা করেন।
