DEPwD Prepares for Special Campaign 6.0 with Focus on Pendency Reduction, Digital Records and E-Waste Management
New Delhi, September 24, 2026: The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) is preparing for Special Campaign 6.0, a nationwide government initiative aimed at improving cleanliness, reducing pending matters and promoting more efficient use of public resources.
Scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, the campaign will place particular emphasis on the systematic collection, segregation and responsible disposal of e-waste, alongside record management, disposal of pending cases and institutionalisation of cleanliness practices across the Department and its affiliated organisations.
The campaign has been launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen Swachhata and reduce pendency in government offices.
Two-Phase Implementation
Special Campaign 6.0 is being conducted in two stages. The preparatory phase runs from September 16 to September 30, 2026, followed by the main implementation phase from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
DEPwD has already established an institutional framework for the campaign. A Nodal Officer has been appointed at the Department level, while its attached and subordinate offices, Public Sector Undertakings and Autonomous Bodies have been advised to appoint their own Nodal Officers.
These organisations have also been asked to identify pending matters in accordance with the parameters prescribed by DARPG.
Building on Special Campaign 5.0
The upcoming campaign builds on the results achieved by DEPwD and its organisations during Special Campaign 5.0, conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2025.
During that campaign:
- 11,972 physical files and documents were digitised and weeded out.
- Approximately 15,588 square feet of office space was released.
- ₹14,47,619 in revenue was generated.
- 64 cleanliness drives were conducted across indoor and outdoor locations by the Department and its organisations.
These outcomes provided a foundation for expanding the campaign’s focus beyond physical cleanliness to broader improvements in record management, disposal processes and administrative efficiency.
Cleanliness as an Ongoing Governance Practice
DEPwD’s efforts have continued beyond the formal campaign period. In accordance with DARPG’s guidelines, the Department and its organisations have been carrying out cleanliness and pendency-reduction activities on a monthly basis since November 2025.
Progress and achievements have also been regularly recorded on the Special Campaign 6.0 Portal (SCDPM), reflecting an effort to make the initiative a continuing administrative practice rather than a once-a-year exercise.
E-Waste Management Gets Special Attention
A major focus of Special Campaign 6.0 will be the responsible management of obsolete electronic equipment and other e-waste.
The initiative seeks to combine cleaner workplaces with improved governance, covering the identification and disposal of unnecessary records and materials, better use of office space, reduction of pending matters and responsible handling of obsolete electronic items.
The approach is intended to turn unused records and redundant materials into opportunities for greater efficiency, accountability and productive use of public resources.
Focus on Sustainable Administrative Efficiency
Through Special Campaign 6.0, DEPwD and its associated organisations will work towards meeting the targets identified during the preparatory phase while continuing practices related to cleanliness, timely disposal and effective record management.
The Department’s approach places Swachhata alongside administrative efficiency and good governance, with the broader objective of making clean workplaces, timely disposal and responsible resource management part of routine government functioning.
