A huge bonfire has set in 13 district of Uttarakhand. A great amount of forest land has been destroyed amounting to 1800+ hectors of forest and wild life habitat lost. Is it a manmade or natural disasters no one knows.
Two years of drought and a sudden rise in the temperature, with humidity level at alarmingly low and strong cross winds flowing, all have contributed to the fires became furious in Uttarakhand.
“It’s known in these parts that forest fires follow a general five year cycle, and the intensity this year can be seen in this light. The drought and low humidity over two years have played a big role,” Ashwani Kumar, Director-General, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education,Told the press
Indian Airforce squadron leader S.K. Yadav and team reached their last evening to do the damage control.
According to Yadav Ji due to SMOG and ashes it is creating difficulty for resque team to work.
Squadron of MI17 helicopters with all possible solution is already on services.
Chamoli, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Almora, Pithoragarh and Nainital have been worst-affected by the fires as off now. Government mobilized enough funds available to all affected districts besides forces and equipment to handle any situation, Governor Office (Raj Bhawan)
officials said in Dehradun yesterday.
