Over 4,000 Aspirants Celebrated as RICE Education Honours Government Job Achievers at 16th Samabartan Utsav
Kolkata, June 28: In a grand celebration of academic excellence and public service, more than 4,000 students, successful alumni, faculty members and family members gathered at the Biswa Bangla Exhibition Centre on Sunday as RICE Education hosted its 16th Samabartan Utsav, honouring candidates who have secured prestigious positions in various State and Central Government services.
The annual convocation served as a platform to recognise the achievements of successful candidates while inspiring thousands of aspiring civil servants and government job seekers to pursue their dreams with dedication, discipline and integrity.
Founded in 1985, RICE Education has established itself as one of eastern India’s premier coaching institutions for competitive examinations. Beginning its journey from Belghoria, the institute has spent over four decades preparing students for examinations including WBCS, SSC, Banking, Railways, Insurance, PSC Miscellaneous, School Service Commission, and several other government recruitment examinations.
The programme commenced with a vibrant cultural performance, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising knowledge and enlightenment. Welcoming the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray, Founder Chairman of RICE Education, reflected on the institution’s remarkable journey and reaffirmed its commitment to producing competent and ethical public servants for the nation.
The event was graced by Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Union Minister of State for Education and Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. Former IAS officer Debashis Sen attended the ceremony as the Guest of Honour.
Before the formal proceedings began, the dignitaries, faculty members and students joined in listening to the live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Majumdar highlighted the significance of public service in nation-building and urged young aspirants to uphold honesty, dedication and constitutional values throughout their careers. Debashis Sen encouraged students to embrace discipline, perseverance and ethical leadership while serving society.
One of the defining moments of the convocation was the oath-taking ceremony, where both current students and newly selected government officers pledged to maintain the highest standards of professional integrity, accountability and public service throughout their careers.
The programme felicitated candidates who successfully cleared various competitive examinations, including WBCS, SSC, Banking, Railways, Insurance, PSC Miscellaneous and School Service Commission examinations. Outstanding achievers received special awards in recognition of their exceptional performance.
A major highlight of this year’s Samabartan Utsav was the presentation of cars to a select group of top-performing candidates, recognising their extraordinary achievements in competitive examinations—a gesture that drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The institution also honoured several distinguished personalities for their significant contributions to public administration and society. Successful alumni shared inspiring stories of perseverance, preparation and life in government service, motivating current aspirants to remain focused on their goals.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray, Founder Chairman of RICE Education, said:
“Samabartan Utsav marks the culmination of years of perseverance, sacrifice and disciplined effort. Every successful candidate honoured today reflects the determination required to overcome challenges. Their achievements are a source of inspiration for future generations of aspirants.”
Delivering the valedictory address, Somnath Acharya, CEO of RICE Education, said:
“Every success story celebrated today is the result of consistent effort, resilience and self-belief. At RICE Education, we remain committed to guiding every aspirant with quality mentorship and unwavering support as they strive to build meaningful careers in public service and contribute to the nation’s progress.”
The 16th Samabartan Utsav once again underscored RICE Education’s enduring legacy of empowering young men and women to achieve success in government service. By celebrating excellence, perseverance and ethical leadership, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the next generation of public servants dedicated to serving the nation.
