India and Poland Explore New Economic Opportunities in AI, Semiconductors and Critical Minerals During Jitin Prasada’s Visit
Warsaw | November 4, 2026 | IBG NEWS
India and Poland are looking to expand their economic partnership through greater cooperation in advanced technology, manufacturing, strategic resources and investment. This was the key focus of Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada’s official visit to Poland on November 2 and 3, 2026.
The Minister travelled with a delegation representing 12 Indian companies, reflecting India’s growing interest in developing stronger commercial relationships with Poland. The visit came shortly after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s recent trip to India, providing further momentum to the bilateral relationship.
The engagement also builds upon the India–Poland Strategic Partnership established in 2024 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland.
Technology Cooperation Takes Centre Stage
One of the major engagements during the visit was Shri Prasada’s meeting with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, Krzysztof Gawkowski.
Both sides examined opportunities to develop closer cooperation in emerging technology sectors, particularly artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, data centre infrastructure and cybersecurity.
These discussions highlighted the potential for combining India’s expanding digital capabilities with Poland’s technological and industrial expertise.
India–EU Trade Agreement Opens New Prospects
In his interaction with Ignacy Niemczycki, Secretary of State in Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shri Prasada discussed the commercial opportunities expected from the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The proposed agreement is expected to create additional avenues for trade and investment between India and European markets.
The discussions also covered agricultural technology, food processing and opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Indian Minister emphasised the importance of enabling businesses of different sizes to participate in expanding bilateral economic activities.
Joint Industrial Development and Critical Minerals
Cooperation in strategic industries featured prominently in the meeting between Shri Prasada and Michal Baranowski, Poland’s Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Technology.
The two representatives explored possible partnerships in critical minerals, semiconductor industries and start-up development.
Shri Prasada presented India’s Make in India initiative as an opportunity for Polish companies to participate in the country’s growing manufacturing ecosystem. He encouraged partnerships based on technology sharing, joint product development and collaborative manufacturing.
Such arrangements could help both countries strengthen industrial capabilities while creating new opportunities for businesses and technology enterprises.
Business Forum Brings Indian and Polish Companies Together
On November 3, Shri Jitin Prasada inaugurated the India–Poland Business Forum at the Polish National Chamber of Commerce (KIG) in Warsaw.
Speaking before business representatives, the Minister urged companies from both countries to move beyond conventional trading relationships and pursue wider commercial partnerships.
He identified investment collaboration, stronger corporate engagement and improved access to markets as important areas for future growth.
The Minister also drew attention to the potential benefits of the India–EU FTA, encouraging businesses to prepare for emerging opportunities in trade, investment and cross-border commercial operations.
Meetings with Investors and Leading Polish Companies
The Minister’s programme included interactions with members of the Indian business community operating in Poland. He recognised their role in maintaining commercial connections and strengthening economic relations between the two nations.
Discussions were also held with prospective Polish investors to identify areas where investment could be directed towards Indian industries and businesses.
As part of the industry outreach programme, Shri Prasada visited two Polish enterprises with existing business interests in India:
- Transition Technologies: A Polish company specialising in information technology and software engineering.
- WB Electronics: A Polish defence-sector enterprise with business interests in the Indian market.
The visits offered an opportunity to understand the companies’ operations and explore possibilities for deeper industrial and technological engagement with India.
Building a Stronger India–Poland Economic Corridor
The visit represents another step towards translating the India–Poland Strategic Partnership into broader commercial and industrial cooperation.
Artificial intelligence, semiconductor manufacturing, cybersecurity, critical minerals, defence technology and agricultural processing are emerging as important areas for collaboration.
India’s manufacturing ambitions, combined with Poland’s industrial and technological capabilities, offer scope for mutually beneficial partnerships. The expected opportunities under the India–EU FTA could further strengthen this relationship by encouraging businesses to explore new markets and investment possibilities.
The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to working with Polish authorities and enterprises to develop stronger economic connections and support more resilient international supply chains.
