Sadhak Bamakhyapa: Lake Kalibari Hosts an Evening of Shyama Sangeet Ahead of Film’s November 20 Release

Kolkata, November 5, 2026: The spiritual legacy of Sadhak Bamakhyapa and his deep devotion to Maa Tara took centre stage at a special evening of Shyama Sangeet organised at Kolkata’s historic Lake Kalibari on November 4. The programme brought together prominent singers, filmmakers and members of the cast of the upcoming Bengali film Sadhak Bamakhyapa, blending devotional music, cinema and Bengal’s cultural heritage.

Presented by SVF Entertainment in association with Lake Kalibari, the event took place at Shri Shri Karunamoyee Kalimata Mandir. The gathering opened with traditional puja and prayers, followed by devotional Naamgaan, setting a spiritual tone for the evening.

The programme also provided an opportunity to introduce audiences to the creative vision behind Sadhak Bamakhyapa, directed by Sayantan Ghosal. The director joined lead actors Sabyasachi Chowdhury and Payel De for an interaction about the film and the challenges of portraying a revered spiritual personality whose life continues to inspire generations.

Sabyasachi Chowdhury plays Sadhak Bamacharan, popularly known as Bamakhyapa. Besides taking on the lead role, he is associated with the film’s story, screenplay, dialogues and creative direction. During the interaction, he spoke about the emotional intensity and spiritual conviction required to portray the mystic’s extraordinary journey.

Payel De, who portrays Maa Tara, shared her experience of bringing to the screen a central figure in the film’s devotional narrative. Their discussion highlighted the relationship between the devotee and the Divine Mother—a bond shaped by faith, unconditional love and complete surrender. The film’s teaser was also unveiled during the event, offering an initial glimpse of the cinematic presentation.

Leading voices bring Shyama Sangeet to Lake Kalibari

Music formed the centrepiece of the celebration, with five acclaimed singers from Bengal—Manomoy Bhattacharya, Parthasarathi Ekalabya, Jayati Chakraborty, Satyajit Deb Roy and Atanu Mishra—presenting a selection of Shyama Sangeet.

Their performances explored the enduring emotional dimensions of devotion to Maa Kali, taking the audience through themes of faith, longing, love and surrender. The musical presentation connected the film’s spiritual subject with Bengal’s long-standing tradition of devotional songs dedicated to the Divine Mother.

The film’s musical design has been created by Indraadip Dasgupta. His work draws upon Bengal’s devotional musical heritage to reinforce the emotional and spiritual dimensions of the story. The film’s songs have been receiving encouraging responses on YouTube, including the recently released track Ami Mantra Tantra Kichhui Janine Ma, which came out on November 3.

A cinematic portrayal of faith and spiritual devotion

Through Sadhak Bamakhyapa, SVF Entertainment seeks to bring the life and spiritual evolution of Sadhak Bamacharan to the big screen. The film explores his distinctive devotion to Maa Tara and the spiritual relationship that occupies a significant place in Bengal’s religious and cultural consciousness.

The Lake Kalibari programme extended the film’s central themes beyond the screen, creating a meeting point for devotional music, artistic expression and cultural heritage. The organisers also acknowledged the cooperation of the Lake Kalibari authorities, particularly Sebait Shri Nitai Chandra Basu and the temple fraternity, for facilitating the event at the revered premises.

Theatrical Release: SVF Entertainment’s Sadhak Bamakhyapa is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 20 November 2026.
