Kulik Bird Sanctuary to be redeveloped by Tourism Dept

Kulik Bird Sanctuary near Raiganj in Uttar Dinajpur district is going to be redeveloped, and the tourist lodge inside the forest renovated, by the State Tourism Department at a cost of Rs 4 crore.

The place is also known as Raiganj Wildlife Sanctuary. Kulik is one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Asia.

Another measure that would be taken to draw more tourists would be to free the Kulik River of pollution. The areas around the bird sanctuary would also be developed, for which a separate fund would be allotted. The Tourism Department has asked the district administration to prepare a report on which action would be taken.
