SEGMENT LAUNCHING WORK NEAR THE PROPOSED NALBAN METRO STATION STARTED

Kolkata, 20th August,2023:

Good News for Metro commuters and all the Kolkata Metro lovers at last!!

After the all-important traffic diversion granted near Nicco Park by  Traffic Police Department, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has started the segment launching work between Pier Nos. 377 to 382 at Nicco Park area for the New Garia- Bimanbandar via Rajarhat Metro Project from 12.08.2023 night. Sub-structure work at this location had been completed long back.

RVNL held several rounds of discussions with Traffic Department officials. Earlier in August 2022 Traffic Department issued NOC for traffic diversion with some conditions. As this stretch is surrounded by a canal on one side and Nicco Park on another side, in order to build a ground supporting system for segment launching work, RVNL had to dismantle a 2.5 m wide garden in the middle of the road, street light poles, decorative poles, etc. and make alternative arrangements. After making this arrangement RVNL officials held another meeting with CP, Bidhannagar, and on 13.03.2023 NOC for diversion of traffic was issued. This diversion is required as RVNL needs a 10.5-meter stretch in the middle of the road from Pier Nos. 377 to 382 to start the segment launching work for the construction of the viaduct here. RVNL has also constructed a Bus Stop at Pier No.374 near Nicco Park as per the request of the Traffic Department for the benefit of the common people.

After this, the permission to start the work has been received and without wasting time this much-awaited work near Nicco Park has got underway from 12.08.2023 night. It is expected that this construction work of the viaduct which would be the approach to the proposed Nalban station would be over within three months.
