Prof. Jasim Mohammad Expresses Concern Over Violence Against Minorities in Bangladesh
New Delhi (Bharat), August 10, 2024: The Donor of Aligarh Muslim University (Bharat) Professor Jasim Mohammad has voiced serious concerns over the recent violence targeting Hindus, Christian, Buddhists, and other minority communities in Bangladesh amid the country’s ongoing political unrest.
In a statement, the Donor of Aligarh Muslim University (Bharat) condemned the attacks, which have included targeted killings, looting, arson, and assaults on women from minority communities. He described these acts as wholly unacceptable and urged the interim government of Bangladesh to take immediate and effective action to stop the violence.
“Donor of Aligarh Muslim University (Bharat) Prof Jasim Mohammad strongly denounces the brutal acts of violence against minority communities in Bangladesh,” the statement read. “It is imperative that the interim government acts decisively to protect the lives, properties, and dignity of those affected.”
Prof Jasim Mohammad also called on the international community and political leaders in India to show solidarity with the persecuted minorities.
Professor Jasim Mohammad urged Interim Prime Minister (Chief Advisor) HH Professor Muhammad Yunus to focus on ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and other minority communities during this critical period.
“Violence against innocent people is an unacceptable act that reveals the collapse of moral values among the perpetrators. Such attacks are a blatant violation of human rights and cannot be justified under any circumstances.” he said.
Prof. Jasim Mohammad appealed the head of Interim Government of Bangladesh to take decisive action against those responsible for these acts of violence. “The interim government should ensure that the individuals and groups who have destroyed properties, attacked minority communities, and desecrated religious sites are held accountable. It is imperative that they take strong measures to protect all citizens, uphold the rule of law, and prevent further violence,” he stated.
Prof. Jasim Mohammad emphasized the importance of addressing the needs and concerns of minority communities to develop national unity and harmony. “It is essential that the new administration prioritizes the protection of all communities and works towards creating a safe environment where everyone can live without fear,” he added.
