Observation of Constitution Day at Botanical Survey of India
Dr. Kanad Das, Director, Botanical Survey of India (BSI), offered his sincere homage to the great visionaries who gifted the nation its Constitution. At the Central National Herbarium (CNH), Howrah, Dr. Das garlanded the statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and reaffirmed our collective commitment to uphold constitutional values and work towards the nation envisioned by its makers.
The Central National Herbarium observed Constitution Day on 26 November 2025, with the participation of 115 staff members. The programme commenced with a mass reading of the Preamble, reinforcing the guiding principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. This was followed by a Green Pledge administered by Dr. K. Karthikeyan, Scientist-F & Head of Office, highlighting the interlinkage between constitutional duties and environmental stewardship.
At the AJC Bose Indian Botanic Garden (AJCBIBG), a total of 150 staff members participated in the programme held at the Curator’s Office. The event began with a collective reading of the Preamble, followed by the Green Pledge, reaffirming commitment to both environmental protection and constitutional responsibilities.

Staff members also joined the national webinar on constitutional values and took part in the online Constitution/Samvidhan Diwas Quiz.
The programme at AJCBIBG was chaired by Dr. Devendra Singh, Scientist ‘E’ & Head of Office. A special webinar was delivered by eminent jurist Dr. M. P. Chengappa, Associate Professor, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata. His insightful lecture enhanced participants’ understanding of constitutional principles and the spirit of Indian democracy.
The observance concluded with enthusiastic participation in the MyGov Online Constitution Day Quiz, reinforcing civic awareness and responsibility.
