From Sainik School Goalpara to the Indian Air Force: Assam’s Flying Officer K Niraj Chandra Singha Turns Dream into Reality
Young officer commissioned into the Indian Air Force’s Meteorology Branch, inspiring aspirants across Northeast India
Guwahati, June 13, 2026: A journey that began in the classrooms of Sainik School Goalpara, Assam, has culminated in a proud moment of national service as K Niraj Chandra Singha was commissioned as a Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force’s Meteorology Branch during the Combined Graduation Parade held at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, on June 13, 2026.
Born and raised in Assam, Flying Officer Singha nurtured the dream of serving the nation from an early age. Through years of discipline, perseverance and unwavering determination, he transformed that aspiration into reality, becoming one of the newest commissioned officers of the Indian Air Force.
An alumnus of Sainik School Goalpara, he credits the institution for instilling in him the values of discipline, leadership, resilience and patriotism. Inspired by the accomplishments of senior cadets and alumni serving the nation, he developed a strong commitment to pursuing a career in the Armed Forces.
To strengthen his academic and professional foundation, he completed a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree while simultaneously mentoring young students who shared similar ambitions of joining the defence services. His journey, however, was not without challenges. Facing setbacks and uncertainties, he remained steadfast, relying on hard work, patience and self-belief to overcome every obstacle.
His perseverance ultimately led to his selection for the Meteorology Branch of the Indian Air Force, marking the successful culmination of years of dedication and sacrifice.
Flying Officer Singha attributes his achievement to the unwavering support of his parents, the guidance and values imparted by Sainik School Goalpara, and his faith in the Almighty.
