2027 Pre-Grammy Gala Set for February 6 as Recording Academy Continues Clive Davis’ Legacy
Santa Monica, California, October 8, 2026: The celebrated Clive Davis and Recording Academy® Pre-Grammy® Gala is set to return on Saturday, February 6, 2027, at The Beverly Hilton, one evening ahead of the 2027 Grammy Awards.
The forthcoming gathering will celebrate the enduring contribution of the late music executive Clive Davis, who passed away on June 22, 2026, at the age of 94. Organisers are also expected to bring together leading performers and personalities from across the entertainment and wider public sphere for an evening of music and celebration.
A Gala Built Over Five Decades
Davis established the Pre-Grammy Gala in 1976, creating an event that eventually became one of the most closely watched gatherings surrounding Grammy Week. In 2009, he partnered with the Recording Academy to jointly present the event.
Over the years, the Gala became particularly known for high-profile musical performances and unexpected collaborations, attracting prominent names from music, cinema, television, sports, politics and business.
The 2027 edition will continue that tradition while commemorating Davis’ extraordinary career and influence on the recording industry.
Recording Academy Pays Tribute to Davis
Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, described the Gala as an important part of Davis’ legacy and recalled the deep connection he had with the music community.
Mason said Davis regarded the event as an opportunity to bring people together around their shared passion for music. He also remembered Davis as a friend and mentor and expressed the view that continuing the Gala was a fitting way to honour the principles behind an event he had nurtured for decades.
Details concerning the performers and other highlights of the 2027 Gala are expected to be announced in the months ahead.
An Influential Figure in Modern Music
Clive Davis’ career in the record industry extended across more than half a century. He received four Grammy Awards as an album producer and was later recognised with the Grammy Trustees Lifetime Achievement Award.
His achievements also included induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. A decade later, the Recording Academy honoured him by naming the Grammy Museum Theater in his recognition.
Davis was renowned for identifying promising artists and helping shape long-lasting careers. His professional legacy is associated with artists spanning numerous generations and genres, including Janis Joplin, Carlos Santana, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Earth, Wind & Fire, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Barry Manilow, Patti Smith, Rod Stewart, Luther Vandross, Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Usher and Jennifer Hudson, among many others.
His influence extended well beyond individual recordings, contributing to the evolution of popular music and the careers of numerous major performers.
Grammy Organisation’s Wider Role
The Grammy organisation represents a broad community of music professionals, including songwriters, performers, producers, engineers and other industry practitioners. Its work includes advocacy for creators, professional opportunities, assistance programmes, recognition of musical achievement and administration of the peer-based Grammy Awards process.
The organisation encompasses the Recording Academy, The Latin Recording Academy®, MusiCares®, the Grammy Museum® and the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation®.
With the announcement of the February 2027 Gala, the long-running pre-Grammy tradition enters a new chapter—one that will celebrate music while remembering the lasting contribution of the executive who helped establish the event as a defining part of Grammy Week.
