KOLKATA STREET MUSIC FESTIVAL- SEASON THREE WOULD CELEBRATE ROOT ARTISANS IN THE CITY IN A GRAND WAY

Music is a universal language of mankind. The sound of birds chirping, the murmur of the river and holy chant at Mandir music is all around. Early morning devotional songs by village singers, songs to tell stories of bygone eras, music to celebrate marriage ceremonies or religious festivals 
musicians of Band Party can be considered one of the key elements to celebrating music on 
street.

The city of joy Kolkata witnessed  the two previous seasons of such Music Festival “Kolkata Street 
Music Festival” in 2020,2021 conceived by Sudipta Chanda in association with Soma Das an NRI musician from London. This year on 24 December 2022 the third season would be celebrated in the city at Spices n Sauces( ICCR outlet). Musicians from villages to cities who perform on the streets are part of the initiative.

Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers presents Kolkata Street Music Festival Season Three on 24 December,2022. An initiative by Sudipta Chanda in association with Riddhi Bandyopadhyay Music Academy, Soma Das, Supported by Daffodil Incorporate.

Musical instrument sellers like flute seller Md Ibran and his friends, two young boys from city Sourojyoti- Krishnendu who play violin and guitar on street named his team Third Stage, national award winning Pata Chitra artiste Kalpana Chitrakar along with Nooruddin Chitrakar, Subol Das Bairagya and his team Bahurupi who would perform songs of Durga, students from Riddhi Bandyopadhyay Music Academy would perform Pancha Kobir Gaan, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Aritra Sunny Mukherjee, Surindam Mukherjee would present a special tribute segments in fond memory of Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri, Kay Kay respectively, Shouvik Mukherjee on sitar recital besides many other performances. It would be compared by noted elocutionist Debashish Basu.

Sudipta Chanda says,”It is a tribute to those musicians who run their livelihood out of street music facing numbers of hassles in their daily life. It is definitely a different kind of musical celebration rather it can be consider as celebration of life through MUSIC.”
